Rigvir is a natural, non–genetically modified virus. It has been studied since the 1960s and its effectiveness in various types of cancer is described through clinical, preclinical, and case studies. It has been studied and used primarily for melanoma, and in clinical practice it has also been used for solid tumors and metastases (not bone), but not for blood cancers.
Rigvir virus finds and infects tumor cells (oncotropism). After injection, the virus replicates inside tumor cells and destroys them (oncolysis). When tumor cells rupture, Rigvir is released and spreads to nearby tumor cells.
Rigvir does not appear to reproduce in tumor-free human organs and tissues and does not excrete into the surrounding environment.
Dual Mechanism of Action
Rigvir is described as having a double effect. In addition to acting as an oncolytic virus capable of finding and destroying cancer cells, it is also described as playing a role in preventing metastases and functioning as a specific immunomodulator.
Rigvir is said to activate the immune system and mobilize a large number of immune cells, including T lymphocytes. These immune cells are described as forming barriers around cancer cells, suppressing them and preventing their spread.
It is also believed that once Rigvir attacks cancer cells and modifies the tumor micro-environment, it overcomes the tumor-related block on the body’s immune reaction.
Effect on Healthy Cells and Tolerability
Rigvir is described as non-toxic, gentle on patients, and not affecting healthy cells.
Use in Metastatic Disease
Rigvir is described as being used to destroy or reduce metastases in the liver, kidneys, lungs, and brain, but not in the bones.
Treatment Protocols and Monitoring
Rigvir injections
The treatment involves several injections in the muscle, skin and intranasal drops.
Various protocols are used depending on the clinical presentation, other treatments being utilized, and whether Rigvir is administered before or after surgery.
Close monitoring of laboratory results and imaging studies is necessary to assess response and to identify any potential adverse effects.
Rigvir Capsules
Rigvir SE is a food supplement that contains a smaller amount of the Rigvir virus compared with the injectable form. The capsules are intended for prevention and can be used in individuals at risk for developing cancer.
Capsules can also be chosen by patients to boost immunity or by individuals who feel they have no other alternatives.
